There are too many invisible walls separating us, including the prohibition of selling Cuban cigars in the United States. We believe SMOKESCREEN, A Cuban Mystery will evoke a world beyond political boundaries, showing ordinary Cuban people working, struggling, living. My attitude has changed positively as a result of my travels to encompass a deeper compassion for the Cuban diaspora. I want to share this experience with others through this film, which lovingly portrays the art and customs of the cigar with its roots in native Indian rituals and its links to the interconnectedness of all life. You'll enjoy the story of Julio who leaves Cuba by raft after 21 attempts and succeeds in recreating his family traditions "one cigar at a time" with "Handmade by Cuban" smokes in New York City.
